Portrait Month: Mieneke

May 14, 2010
The actual Portrait month is over – I still have this and one more image to show. With this painting everything went wrong: The model didn’t show up, so we started late and a fellow artist had to pose (thanks Mieneke :)). Then the background was a cloth over a door – so it changed … Continue reading Portrait Month: Mieneke →

Queensday Portraits

May 12, 2010
On this Queensday I was painting portraits in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark again. This time with even more artists – Henrik joined, Svetlana reserved the spot and took pictures and Ingeborg and Renske were drawing also. Which is nice – it attracts people to watch and makes them want a portrait too. Even though we were all … Continue reading Queensday Portraits →

Rotating Beer Coaster Art

May 10, 2010
Last week me and some friends were drawing on beer mats again – I think over the years we filled quite some of them :) Great fun. Usually I leave them in the bars, but this one is special. Spot how many creatures you can find on this one. Careful though: if you look to … Continue reading Rotating Beer Coaster Art →

Portrait Month – Norma

April 24, 2010
Painting a good friend is really a challenge. I think it is the pressure to get really the person one knows – but damn, its fun to try :) So thanks a lot to Norma for posing last week in the ongoing Portrait Month in the Gallery de Stoker. And the good news: more friend-portraits … Continue reading Portrait Month – Norma →

New Exhibitions going on

April 22, 2010
Currently there are two joint-showings of my pictures here in Amsterdam. I created a listing, which I want to keep updated from now on. Firstoff, there is a indefinite exposition in Koppelaar’s Kunsthuiskamer. A gallery in Amsterdam Oud West (close to Central), which is specialized in Amsterdam Cityviews. It will keep 3 of my paintings … Continue reading New Exhibitions going on →

Final painting: Lake 2

April 19, 2010
I’ve posted a wip earlier. Here is the final one of Lake. The foreground works better now with the extended sheet. I also had a more detailed face at some point – but overpainted it to a simpler version.

Words that don’t Exist 1: Ghosts and Wolves

April 17, 2010
The first part on some philosophizing about words - and how we take their meaning for too granted...

Yola, final version

April 13, 2010
This is the final version of a work in progress I posted before. Visitors of the exhibition have seen the image already. Although I must admit, since I was in a hurry I accidentally hung it up the wrong way :D Both versions work – but I do like this angle the most.

Art as New Science

April 5, 2010
Recently the Large Hadron Collider has been reaching a new record energy output. The main goal of this huge structure is finding the Higgs boson. Exciting? Hm. The particle is important for high energy physics – without it, the mathematics would be flawed. But we know that the mathematics are highly accurate. The Higgs Boson … Continue reading Art as New Science →
