Sketchbook Time Travel – 2009 Edition

Posted on March 5, 2012 by Thomas | Sketchbooks | Tags: , , , |

Long time, no Sketchbook. Some more pages from the end of 2009. Amsterdammers might even recognize one or the other place. I’ll leave it to you to guess.

Also, since we’re at the topic of Amsterdam: I’m desperately in need of a studio. It’s tough to find an affordable cozy place, with nice light. If anyone knows anything in or around West, please let me know.

On another note: I also added new conceptart to the website indie-game I’m working on.

Thomas's Sketchbook 2009- The woodwards

This and the next 2 are musicians playing at the … oops, didn’t wanna tell. The Woodwards is really nice country … kinda from Amsterdam. He’s playing again tomorrow in the Jet-Lounge btw. – I can really recommend it.
The following band actually noticed me sketching and played a song about artists for me, thanks… and sorry for forgetting the name :D

Also, since I spent sooo much time on these assets and videos, I’ll post them here too: This is the bigger object that has final quality for “caromble. Still will have to adjust the style a little bit in future assets.

Caromble Starting to Roll!

Finally – after much struggle and suffering: I can unveil the indie game I’m working on with a small dutch team. And of course we set up a proper web-page for it – where you can see the proper announcement of “Caromble”.

If you’re too lazy to click it – it is a 3D clone of Breakout. You control a paddle and a keep a ball in the playing field that can crush the environment with beautiful physics. There are some special twists to it, but more on that later. We are further along than it shows, and the plan is to kinda slowly trace back how we went about the development. Over the next weeks I will post more concept-art and posts about the 3D-art. My goal for the style is to get a unique style by simulating comicart a little – using colored lineart as textures.

I also have some 3D tutorials ready that I’ll post in the process. Big plans are still ahead – and a lot of work.
